MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Milwaukee police are searching for a driver after a 24-year-old pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash on the city’s north side Monday night.
Police say the crash happened around 11:15 p.m. on the 4500 block of North Teutonia Avenue.
Investigators say a vehicle traveling southbound on Teutonia struck the 24-year-old pedestrian in the street and then fled the scene.
A 44-year-old witness saw the crash and went into the street to help the pedestrian. While the witness was rendering aid, police say a second southbound vehicle struck both the witness and the pedestrian.
The 24-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The 44-year-old was taken to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say the driver of the second vehicle remained at the scene and is cooperating with the investigation.
MPD is still searching for the driver involved in the initial hit-and-run.
