MILWAUKEE — A man charged with killing his tenant and a witness in Milwaukee is seeking a McMorris Motion in purist of a self defense claim.
Kevin Griffin faces charges of first-degree intentional homicide and first-degree reckless homicide after he allegedly shot Terrance Wilder while trying to evict him over a drug deal, then shot a witness to the crime, A’nya Raymond, in a car hours later on Nov. 5.
A McMorris Motion allows a defense team to introduce evidence about a victim’s previous violent behavior, in order to support a self-defense claim for the defendant. In a criminal complaint, Griffin admitted to both murders, and told investigators that Raymond pulled a knife and mace from her pursue just before he shot her.
Raymond’s child was in the car during the second shooting, and was later found wandering barefoot with blood on his clothes miles away.
Griffin has a hearing for the McMorris Motion on Dec 4. His trial is scheduled for January 25, 2027.
