FOND DU LAC COUNTY, Wis. — A hit-and-run crash in Fond du Lac County leaves a house with thousands of dollars in damage as authorities continue searching for the driver.
Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office was called to a home in the Township of Auburn at 8:44 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5. They say a driver failed to negotiate a curve along northbound Hwy. 67 and ran a stop sign at Hwy. 45, then crashed into a house near the intersection. The driver fled the scene.
A family pet inside the home suffered minor injuries and the crash caused an estimated $15,000 in damage to the house, according to a press release. The homeowners were away at the time of the crash.
Deputies used a K9 and a drone to search for the driver, then spoke to the presumed driver’s relatives, but were unsuccessful in locating the person. The sheriff’s office said they believe they know who the driver is and are continuing follow-up investigation.
Speed and inattentive driving are believed to be factors in the crash.
