(Update at 10:10 p.m. on 8/31/26) MILWAUKEE — An abandoned building in Milwaukee’s Walker’s Point neighborhood is under a raze order after a wall collapsed on Monday afternoon.

The Department of Neighborhood Services’ Condemnation Division ordered an emergency demolition after inspecting the National Warehouse Corporation building near Bruce and Water streets on Monday afternoon. All other buildings on the property have been ordered to be vacated.

No one was injured and no one was inside when the building when it collapsed. It was constructed in 1925 and it’s unclear what caused the collapse.

DNS said the warehouse property owner is currently seeking bids for demolition and site restoration. We Energies has disconnected electrical and gas services to the building.

Neighboring property owners and businesses have been contacted, and DNS is working with the Milwaukee Health Department to monitor air quality in the area.

Water Street is closed one block north and one block south of the collapse. Fencing will be installed at the site on Tuesday morning, and Milwaukee police will remain at the site until then.
