MILWAUKEE, Wis. — Milwaukee County residents affected by April’s severe storms and flooding will have a new place to get in-person assistance.

A Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Disaster Recovery Center opens Tuesday, July 21, at the Northwest Health Center, 7630 W. Mill Road, to help people recover from the April 13-23, 2026 storms and flooding.

Representatives from FEMA, the U.S. Small Business Administration, and Wisconsin Emergency Management will be available to help residents apply for federal disaster assistance, check the status of existing applications, and explain the appeals process.

The center will be open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and will remain open until further notice.

FEMA assistance may help cover uninsured disaster-related expenses, including home repairs, personal property losses, childcare, transportation, medical costs, funeral expenses, and dental needs.

Officials remind residents that visiting a Disaster Recovery Center is not required to receive assistance. Applications can also be submitted online at DisasterAssistance.gov or by calling 800-621-3362.

The deadline to apply for FEMA Individual Assistance is August 31, 2026.
