Milwaukee polling location changes ahead of the August partisan primary

MILWAUKEE — Several Milwaukee polling places have changed locations for the upcoming August election.

The changes will take effect for the Partisan Primary Election on August 11. They will affect four wards in two aldermanic districts, which is around 2,700 voters.

The Milwaukee Election Commission will notify voters directly by mail, as well as signage at former and new sites.

Location Changes:

Ward 143 (Formerly Gwen T. Jackson School)

New location: Center Street Library (2727 W. Fond du Lac Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53210)

Reason: MPS construction

Ward 145 and Ward 169 (Formerly Frances Starms Discovery Learning Center)

New location: Starms Early Childhood Center (2616 W. Garfield Ave., Milwaukee, WI 53205)

Reason: MPS construction

Ward 247 (Formerly Lincoln Avenue School)

New location: Becher Terrace Apartments (1800 W. Becher St., Milwaukee, WI 53215)

Reason: Fire at Lincoln Avenue School

Additionally, the MEC encourages to remember these dates:

July 22: Deadline to register to vote online or by mail.
July 28: Early voting begins in Milwaukee
August 6 at 5 p.m.: Deadline for most voters to request an absentee ballot by mail.
August 9: Final day of early voting at select locations.
August 11: Election Day.

On election day, polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. All absentee ballots must be received at the Central Count location, 1901 S. Kinnickinnic Ave. by 8 p.m. to be counted, and secure ballot drop boxes close at 6 p.m.
