MILWAUKEE — Some organizational changes are coming to Milwaukee Public Schools amid a round of layoffs.
Chief of Schools Keely Roberts and Budget Director Nick Sinram are both leaving the district, with their last day set for this Friday, March 20, according to a statement from MPS.
The chief of schools position will be eliminated, with responsibilities absorbed by the remaining deputy superintendent role.
The budget director role will be filled in the coming weeks as a deputy chief position.
The district is cutting over 260 jobs to address a nearly $50 million budget deficit.
Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley announced this week that Sinram is being hired as the county’s director for the Office of Strategy, Budget and Performance (SBP). Sinram will begin serving in the role on an interim basis in April pending confirmation by the Milwaukee County Board of Supervisors.
Sinram will replace Joe Lamers, who was recently appointed as the Director of the Milwaukee County Department of Transportation.
