MADISON, Wis. – The Democratic field to replace Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers in 2026 drops from 8 to 7.
American Family Field beer vendor Ryan Strnad formally dropped out of the race November 25, and will endorse Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley.
“I want to thank every person who supported this campaign,” said Strnad in a prepared statement. “I ran to give working class families a voice and to deliver results for communities that have long been overlooked. I believe David Crowley is the candidate who can hit the ground running, fight for families, and begin delivering those results for Wisconsin starting on day one.”
Strnad had campaigned on improving quality of life for the working class, protecting the environment, and made some headlines in October when he proposed allowing alcohol sales at high school sporting events as a means of raising revenue for Wisconsin’s schools.
Strnad previously ran unsuccessfully for the state Assembly as a Republican in 2000.
The Democratic gubernatorial field could soon grow again; former Lieutenant Governor Mandela Barnes has expressed interest in running for the office, while President of the Greater Milwaukee Committee Joel Brennan says he is giving the idea “very serious” thought, with a potential launch in early December if he moves forward.
