GERMANTOWN, Wis.—A Germantown Police K9 helped officers uncover a gun and several types of guns during a traffic stop on October 11th.
Police say Sergeant Justin Pesch and his K9 partner, Arek, were patrolling northbound on I-41 near Holy Hill Road when they noticed a Vehicle without a rear license plate. After pulling it over, officers learned the driver–a 41-year-old Milwaukee man– had an active warrant out of West Allis.
During the stop, K9 Arek conducted an open-air sniff around the car and alerted officers to narcotics. A search turned up a handgun, nearly 21 grams of cocaine, 25 grams of marijuana, hundreds of prescription pills, and drug paraphernalia.
For specifics:
-1 handgun
-20.84 grams of cocaine
-25 grams of marijuana
-320 Gabapentin pills
-6 Alprazolam pills
-55 Suboxone strips
-Drug paraphernalia
All of these items were found inside of a “Bluey” backpack.
The driver was arrested and faces multiple felony charges, including possession with intent to deliver cocaine and illegal possession of a firearm.
Germantown Police commended Sergeant Pesch and K9 Arek for their work in keeping “dangerous drugs and weapons off the streets.”
