MILWAUKEE — A video by Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem blaming Democrats for the ongoing government shutdown will not be played at Mitchell International Airport.
This comes at a time when many government agencies are shutdown and federal workers such as TSA agents and air traffic controllers are working without pay.
Marketing and Public Relations Coordinator for Milwaukee County Airports Tajma Hall sent WTMJ the following statement in response to Mitchell International not showing Secretary Noem’s message:
“Milwaukee Mitchell International Airport is not displaying any videos from the Federal government. Milwaukee County Ordinance prohibits the display of any political messages in County buildings. Therefore, any requests to display political content in the Airport are denied. This applies to all displays controlled by the Airport. The TSA owns and operates their own display monitors in the passenger screening checkpoints. These are not controlled by the airport.”
Currently more airports across the United States are dealing with massive delays and some air traffic control employees have not shown up for work amid the government shutdown, putting more strain on the country’s air traffic.
