MILWAUKEE — It was nothing more than a strong start to the NLDS series for the Milwaukee Brewers as they scored 6 runs in the first inning and then 3 more in the second against their rivals the Chicago Cubs.
As hype for the post season continues, die-hard Brewers fans such as Jeff Milbrath could not believe the scoring effort in the first two innings of game one.
“It was absolutely incredible after that first inning. I thought I was going to have a heart attack. I’m 58-years-old and I don’t think I can handle that much more excitement. There is just no rust on these guys!” said Milbrath. “I remember the ’82 team. Heck I love the ’82 team, but what we’re seeing here right now is something that is truly special.”
Milbrath says the way the Brewers players are performing lean back on a return to form with baseball: guys proving their worth while also just having fun.
“These guys are the definition of baseball players. Frelick and Durbin, they’re real baseball players in which they are willing to go out there onto the field and hustle,” said Milbrath.

Fan Sam Thomas shares the same thoughts and believes the Brewers this year will go all the way and thinks the magic of the Brew Crew in October all comes from the spirit of Brewers announcer Bob Uecker.
“I really do believe it’s Uecker. You always get really choked up talking about the guy. We were there at his memorial ceremony– But this team– it’s like the spiritual guide as Uecker this year. It is so much fun and it is what this team is about,” said Thomas. “It’s about a bunch of nobodies who care about the game, who care about each other and the power of friendship is just greater than the prima donas you’ll find on other teams.”

Even among Cubs fans, they could tell something is different about the Brewers this year in the postseason.
Maria DelReal roots for the Cubs while her husband Mario roots for the Brewers, but both could tell that there is something different in the air this season.
“We knew this series was going to be a historical matchup. You can see that I’m wearing my Cubs gear, but honestly if the Brewers take it all the way, I would be cheering for them as well,” said Maria. “I feel like both teams are going to be extraordinary, but the Brewers played game one like they were in it to win it. If they go all they way, I’ll feel really happy for them.”
As both teams head take one day to rest, game two on October 6th will likely be just as exciting as baseball frenzy has once again become the talk of the town in Milwaukee.
