MILWAUKEE — The Milwaukee Police Department has released body camera footage of an officer-involved shooting after a man fled a traffic stop with a gun last month.
21-year-old Kenneth Cubero was charged with one count of obstructing an officer for the Sept. 17 incident. After an MPD officer stopped Cubero’s vehicle for running two stop signs, police say Cubero exited the car and started running. He refused the officer’s commands to stop.
When Cubero dropped his gun during the foot pursuit and attempted to retrieve it, the officer discharged his firearm and struck Cubero.
The 26-year-old male officer with over six years of service is on administrative leave.
Cubero is due back in court for a pre-trial conference on Oct. 15.
