MILWAUKEE — Celebrating 150 years of the Milwaukee Fire Department.
To honor the anniversary, the department has been hosting community outreach events at fire stations throughout the city.
Department leaders on Monday announced an even bigger celebration will be held on Saturday, September 13 from 12-4 p.m. at Henry Maier Festival Park.

“We’ll have fire safety education, recruitment opportunities, special teams displays and all kinds of stuff will be happening throughout the day,” said Milwaukee Fire Chief Aaron Lipski.
“Thinking about the opportunity to celebrate and honor all of those who serve today and all of those who served over all of these years, it was a very quick yes. We couldn’t be more excited to host this event,” said Sarah Pancheri, president and CEO of Milwaukee World Festival Inc.
The free event will also feature antique and modern fire apparatus displays, live music and food vendors.
