DODGEVILLE, Wis. — The body of a woman who went missing earlier this week was found in the back seat of a car in Nebraska early Wednesday morning.
67-year-old Dorinda Segebrecht was reported missing from Dodgeville after she and her car had not been seen since Monday.
Nebraska State Patrol officers spotted her car around 1:50 a.m. Wednesday traveling westbound in the eastbound lanes of a construction zone on I-80 in Lincoln. Segebrecht was not driving the vehicle. Troopers pursued until the car exited the construction zone near mile marker 388 and crashed into a creek. The suspect driver then immediately fled on foot.
Segebrecht was found dead in the back seat of the car. Nebraska State Patrol says it was clear the she had died before the crash.
Police found the suspect walking several hours later and arrested 23-year-old Gavin Thompson of Dodgeville. He’s in custody in the Lancaster County Jail in Nebraska.
Thompson could face charges of first-degree intentional homicide, armed robbery, hiding a corpse and operating a vehicle without owner’s consent.
