FOND DU LAC, Wis. — A prisoner accused of murdering her cellmate at Taycheedah Correctional Institute has pleaded no contest to homicide.
29-year-old Taylor Sanchez was originally scheduled to stand trial in July. Her bond is now revoked as she awaits sentencing for beating 68-year-old Cindy Schulz-Juedes to death.
Schulz-Juedes was found dead in their shared cell nearly two years ago. She suffered severe lacerations on her head, face and arms, and dozens of rib fractures.
Sanchez told investigators she was hearing voices that told her to kill her cellmate. A criminal complaint details a transcription from a phone call with her mother:
At 3:55 mom asks Taylor, “What happened, why did you beat somebody up”? Taylor says, “Um, I don’t
know”. She adds, “I stopped taking my meds and I started hearing voices again.” Taylor adds, “I thought
she was using my toothbrush to scrub the toilet” and says, “I thought she was using my stuff to wipe the
floor with and I thought she was messing with me.” Sanchez’s mom responded is, “Oh, God!”
Schulz-Juedes was serving a lifetime sentence for being a party to first-degree intentional homicide and other charges in the 2021 shooting of her husband, 58-year-old Kenneth Juedes in Marathon County.
Sanchez was serving multiple sentences for battery or threat to law enforcement out of Kenosha County, and battery to an inmate at the time. She now faces life in prison for the first degree intentional homicide conviction.
Her sentencing is scheduled for July 28.
