WAUWATOSA, Wis.— One man is in the hospital after an attempted carjacking took place on Monday night.
The incident occurred just after 10:30p.m. near the corners of Burleigh Street and 112th Street.
Wauwatosa police report that a suspect was attempting to break into a vehicle in a parking lot when they were confronted by the owner of the car, resulting in an exchange of gunfire.
The owner of the car was suffered non-fatal injuries and was shot in the leg. He was then taken to the local hospital where he is currently recovering from the gun wound.
The suspect who shot the owner of the car fled the scene and is still being searched for by police.
The investigation is still ongoing.
