MADISON — Devin Remiker will serve as the next chair of the Democratic Party of Wisconsin.
The former executive director of the state party replaces outgoing chairman Ben Wikler.
At the party’s annual state convention over the weekend, Remiker won with 485 votes — defeating Milwaukee-based Democratic consultant Joe Zepecki and chair of the Democratic Party’s 3rd Congressional District William Garcia.
“I think we have to show up everywhere year round,” Remiker said in a speech on Sunday. “I think for some folks there’s trust we have to rebuild to show that Democrats are the party that’s going to fight for the working class.”
Remiker campaigned with endorsement from Wikler and multiple prominent Democratic lawmakers. He returns to state party leadership after serving as a senior advisor to former President Joe Biden’s and former Vice President Kamala Harris’ 2024 presidential campaigns.
Wikler’s term ends June 30 and Remiker’s begins July 1.
