FOND DU LAC, Wis. – Bond has been set at $500,000 dollars for the suspect in a high-speed chase that wound through several streets in downtown Fond du Lac Friday night, at points authorities say reaching speeds around 80 miles per hour.
Police say Kaitlynn Gabrielle Ray was approached Friday evening after being observed traveling 50 miles per hour in a 25 mph zone on South Main Street just before 6:40pm. A criminal complaint says she then sped away, reaching speeds around 80 mph and striking several parked cars.
Ray faces over two dozen charges connected to the chase, which prosecutors say led to at least five injuries and extensive damage to vehicles, including two vehicles that caught fire including Ray’s. While arresting Ray, police observed she had “slow and slurred speech with droopy eyelids”.
“The danger to the public was extreme with the defendant alleged to be driving a vehicle approximately 80 mph, essentially becoming a missile down Main Street, in a heavily populated area, endangering the lives of pedestrians and motorists.” said Fond du Lac County District Attorney Eric Toney Wednesday.
Ray’s preliminary hearing is scheduled for July 18th.
