KENOSHA – Three people are injured, two seriously, following an early-morning shooting in Kenosha.
Police say it happened around 1:45 a.m. Saturday near 23rd Avenue and 63rd Street.
A 31-year-old man is in custody, but police say the suspect and victims all knew each other and that cooperation into the investigation is “minimal from those involved.”
Because of that, the Kenosha Police Department is asking for anyone who might have been in the neighborhood or noticed anything to get in contact with their detectives by calling 262-605-5203 or Crime Stoppers at 262-656-7333.
A post describing the incident on the Kenosha Police Department’s Facebook page also makes an impassioned plea for people to report anyone who might be illegally possessing a weapon.
“Guns shouldn’t be possessed by people who are prohibited from possessing them,” the post reads. “Very few people who illegally possess a gun keep it a secret. If you know of someone who is choosing to not be a responsible, law abiding citizen when it comes to guns you need to tell us. Every victim of senseless shootings is cared for by someone. Tell us for the people that care. Spare them the phone call that there [sic] loved one has been shot.”
Two of the victims from Saturday’s shooting remain in serious condition, according to police.
