We’ve been dealing with it all week, the Kilbourn off ramp tunnel from I-43 NB closure puts a kink in many commuter’s trips into downtown.
A 12 inch water main break near 6th and Kilbourn ave on Monday morning flooded the off ramp and caused damage to the tunnel. It resulted in county crews shutting it down, and it’s been closed ever since.
The Milwaukee DPW’s Brian Deneve said they’re still trying to track down the source of the leak, “Right now, it’s a safety concern for us, enough to where we do not want to have vehicles using that until we’re sure it’s fully safe.”
Once they find the leak and do the repairs and inspections they’ll be able to reopen it, but don’t expect it to be opened before next week.
