Wisconsin Republicans react to President Trump's nomination for Supreme Court Justice

MADISON — President Donald Trump has his nomination for the nation’s most powerful court : Amy Coney Barrett.

Wisconsin Republicans are pleased with the nomination, including Senator Ron Johnson and former Governor Scott Walker.

Less than three years ago, Amy Coney Barrett was confirmed on a bipartisan basis as a judge on the Federal 7th Circuit Court of Appeals. I was pleased to vote for her then, and I expect to support her confirmation as a justice on the Supreme Court.

It’s like people don’t know history…or even how to Google. @realDonaldTrump legally won the election in 2016.

He has every right to nominate someone to fill a vacancy on the Supreme Court at any time until the end of his term.

On the other side, many local democrats are opposing the nomination.

Senator Tammy Baldwin stating ” I will not vote for a nominee to a lifetime appointment to the SUpreme Court until after the American people have voted and out next president and sew senate have taken office.”
