UPDATE 3/9/26 at 12:30p.m. – The suspect in a deadly weekend shooting at a popular Shorewood park is found dead in a Milwaukee home.
A woman, identified by the Medical Examiner’s office as Renesia Thompson, was found shot to death in a car at Estabrook Park late on March 6. Around 12 hours later, authorities were called to a home near 19th and Nash on Milwaukee’s north side, where a man identified as Jalun Cotton was found dead from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in the living room.
Sheriff’s officials are calling the shooting an act of domestic violence, and they say there is evidence that confirms the suspect’s connection to the victim and the crime scene. The gun used in the shooting is the same one found in the Milwaukee home, according to authorities.
