When you click “play” on a new Cooking With Kitty episode, you’re not just getting a recipe — you’re invited into a world of inclusion, joy, and the belief that cooking (and community) can belong to everyone.
Kitty (real name Katherine), a Wauwatosa native with a dual diagnosis of Down syndrome and autism, is the creative force behind the YouTube channel Cooking With Kitty. With help from her family, occupational therapy, and sheer enthusiasm, Kitty demonstrates recipe steps, shares laughs, and welcomes guests into her kitchen.
Over the years, she has cooked alongside local culinary figures like chefs Dan Jacobs and Adam Pawlak, and with establishments including Cranky Al’s and Kopp’s Frozen Custard. (Yes — she even makes dessert stops part of the fun.) Her collaborations don’t just showcase her cooking but also foster connections across communities.
Most recently, Kitty collaborated with WTMJ’s Kristin Brey and made Kristin’s family’s go-to comfort food: Tuna Casserole.
