MADISON, Wis. — State Senator Kelda Roys has announced her campaign for governor of Wisconsin.
Roys previously ran for governor in 2018, finishing third in the Democratic primary.
“President Trump’s policies are causing massive economic uncertainty, hitting families, farmers, and small businesses in their pocketbooks,” said Roys on her campaign website. “Wisconsin needs a champion who will stand up to Trump and protect Wisconsinites from the harmful effects of his policies by creating state-level economic and legal buffers and support systems.”
Roys is now the fourth Democrat to enter the race following Gov. Tony Evers decision to not seek a third term.
It’s the first time since 2010 Wisconsin’s gubernatorial race is open with no incumbent running.
So far there are two Republicans in the field – Washington County Executive Josh Schoemann and New Berlin businessman Bill Berrien.
