MILWAUKEE, Wis. – Milwaukee Mayor Cavalier Johnson plans to endorse Milwaukee County Executive David Crowley for governor of Wisconsin.
The move follows Crowley’s declaration of candidacy on September 9.
Johnson offered his endorsement at an event held at Broken Bat Brewery in Milwaukee September 10. He was joined by President of the Milwaukee Common Council Jose Perez, Milwaukee County Board Chairwoman Marcelia Nicholson and President of Firefighters Local 215 Eric Daun.

Crowley began his remarks at the event acknowledging the killing of conservative activist and Turning Point USA co-founder Charlie Kirk earlier in the day with a moment of silence.
“We cannot, and will not, have political violence in this country,” said Crowley before making his pitch to the gathered crowd asking for their support as he begins his campaign for governor.

That campaign will include a lot of travel across the state, but Crowley told WTMJ it’s too early to tell what the security detail would look like for him in the wake of Wednesday’s assassination of Kirk.
Crowley joins Lt. Governor Sara Rodriguez and American Family Field beer vendor Ryan Strnad as Democrats running for Governor; Businessman Bill Berrien and Washington County Executive Josh Schoemann are the two declared Republican candidates.
Rodriguez, Berrien and Schoemann each offered condolences for Kirk’s family on social media Wednesday:
