MILWAUKEE — The annual We Energies Cookie Book releases to the public next week, and to celebrate, Tuesday morning’s first-ever ‘Great Cookie Book Taste Off’ featured regional first responders, who created the recipes for this year’s book.
“It’s a family recipe we’ve been cooking around Thanksgiving every year,” Delafield Police Officer Daniel Barber explained. His Holiday Cranberry Bars are included in this year’s book.
Officer Barber joined other local law enforcement officers and media members in today’s contest. Teams attempted to identify ingredients in three cookies featured in this year’s book.
Among other notable participants were WTMJ’s Vince Vitrano, 101.7 The Truth’s Tory Lowe and TMJ4 News Anchor Susan Kim representing Milwaukee media. Chief Lipski served as a judge, as did West Allis Police Chief Patrick Mitchell and Milwaukee Police Assistant Chief Nicole Waldner.
This is We Energies’ 95th Anniversary book. It will be released online on November 1st, but spokeswoman Amy Jahns knows thousands will wait in line to get their physical copies:
“Families have been doing it decade upon decade getting the books in their hands. Mothers, grandmothers, grandfathers.”
