It’s a life-changing moment getting to sign the richest contract in the NBA history.
Despite adding a lot of zeroes to his bank account, Giannis Antetokounmpo kept his celebration low-key by going to dinner with his family and shopping for his baby son, Liam.
“Obviously we’re living in a pandemic so the celebration probably was adjusted a tad,” said Fox Sports Wisconsin’s Zora Stephenson on Wisconsin’s Afternoon News. “But the fact that that’s what he did when you sign a life-changing deal like that is just Giannis all the way around.”
It’s also clear that family played an important role into Giannis’ decision
“Whether it’s his mom, his partner, or his brothers, those are all people that he listens to,” Stephenson said. “Generations and generations will now be taken care of. For a guy who grew up the way he did, that’s monumental in itself.”
Stephenson says the impact that this signing will leave on the city of Milwaukee will also will be long-lasting.
“It wasn’t an election, it wasn’t COVID-19 that was on the news last night. It was Giannis,” she said. “That says a lot.”
