Brewers manager Pat Murphy remains hopeful veteran pitcher Brandon Woodruff could potentially return before the end of the season.
“Why not?” Murphy asked on WTMJ’s Wis. Morning News.
Woodruff did not undergo an anticipated surgery, and is back in Milwaukee to begin a throwing progression next week, a change of plans that could drastically change the outlook for the right-hander, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported.
“Woodruff is excited about it,” the skipper said. “There’s still a (5-week) progression, but why not hold out hope? Everyone knows what he’s capable of when he’s healthy. I’m not telling you it’s likely, I’m just saying we should be hopeful.”
