MARATHON COUNTY, Wis.– The Wisconsin Department of Health Services is investigating a possible measles exposure in a Marathon County emergency room.
Health officials say people who were in the emergency department of the Marshfield Medical Center on Thursday from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. could have been exposed.
A person confirmed to have had measles visited the hospital while they were contagious and able to spread the disease. If you were at the hospital during that time, symptoms would likely show up between November 11th to the 25th.
Officials are encouraging residents to check their vaccination status. The MMR vaccine is 97% effective in preventing the measles. The first death due to measles in the state this year was confirmed in an infant in Grant County this week.
Marathon County is offering a vaccine clinic on Sunday from 10 a.m. to noon at the Health Department.
