MADISON, Wis. — The man at the center of a skeletal remains investigation in Fond du Lac County pled not guilty to stalking charges in a Dane County case on Friday.
Benjamin Larson is accused of repeatedly trying to contact a woman for 13 years after they briefly dated in 2013. He appeared in court on Sept. 11 via video from the Fond du Lac County Jail to enter his plea.
A criminal complaint says Larson sent the woman letters, emails and gifts, even when she moved away from Madison without telling him. Larson allegedly sent her a holiday card that names her child and husband just last December and filed complaints against her with licensing boards, falsely claiming she was his therapist.
Larson faces separate felony charges of receiving stolen property and bail jumping, and a misdemeanor of obstructing an officer after investigators found human skulls and serial killer memorabilia among other items related to murder and stalking in the basement of his home. Detectives said they also found a painting of a naked woman and a clay head that resembled the stalking victim, as well as some of the woman’s belongings.
A subsequent court date has not been set for Larson’s stalking charge, which carries up to three years and six months in prison and a $10,000 fine. He’s set to be arraigned on the three Fond du Lac County charges on Sept. 28.
