MILWAUKEE — A man has been charged after allegedly sexually assaulting a student on the Milwaukee School of Engineering campus.
According to a criminal complaint, David Kelley approached the student on August 31st, with a note on his phone that read “I’m a new student here. Can you show me where the gym is?”
He then threatened him with a firearm and sexually assaulted him near North Broadway and East Juneau Avenue, before running off with the student’s lanyard and dorm keys due to other students walking by.
The student ran and told MSOE security immediately, and surveillance video showed Kelley discarding his gun and the student’s items in a nearby dumpster.
Investigators say the firearm is linked to a sexual assault and attempted homicide/shooting in Chicago the day before, which Kelley was identified in as well.
If convicted on all charges, Kelley could face up to 80 years in prison.
