MILWAUKEE — The man charged in a violent attack outside a pizza restaurant on the South Side of Milwaukee has pled not guilty.
Angel Garcia-Santibanez is accused of punching a man in the head until he fell unconscious on the sidewalk outside Beto’s Pizza. The Aug. 12 attack left the victim with a concussion and a fractured skull.
Investigators say the attack happened after employees repeatedly told Garcia-Santibanez to leave the restaurant, and he allegedly refused to leave. The victim then allegedly asked Garcia-Santibanez to leave, and he eventually left.
A criminal complaint says surveillance video shows the victim later leave the restaurant, then shows Garcia-Santibanez run up behind the man and begin punching him. The complaint says Garcia-Santibanez admitted to the beating.
Garcia-Santibanez pled not guilty to one felony charge of substantial battery on Friday, after posting bond the week prior. He’s due back in court for a scheduling conference on Sept. 14.
