During a pandemic, as the number of people in need increases, so does the number of necessary volunteers.
“We’re all brothers and sisters,” said Conrad York, a volunteer with The Salvation Army. “It’s really important for those who have the ability to help out.”
York, a financial consultant, has been volunteering for The Salvation Army for ten years.
“I’m a very blessed individual,” he explained. “You need to give back to the community.”
York is currently working at The Salvation Army 60th Street Food Pantry, at 5880 N. 60th Street.
The pandemic is raising stress levels in the community, according to York.
“Across the board, there’s definitey a high level of anxiety,” York said. “Clients are grateful this facility is available. It is making a difference.”
