Wisconsin will look very different county-to-county when it comes to the rules businesses must abide by.
In some places, restaurants are beginning to reopen with social distancing guidelines in place.
That’s why Kristine Hillmer, President of the Wisconsin Restaurant Association, is offering up advice about possible legal ramifications moving forward.
“Our worry is if someone catches it and it traces back to a restaurant,” Hillmer tells WTMJ. “That doesn’t mean that it’s caught there, but maybe somebody who tests positive was there a couple nights ago, then they could potentially be sued.”
That’ why she telling her members to do everything they can to ensure the safety of their guests.
“Going through all the careful preparation that they need to do now and do everything they can to stop the spread at all. That’s going to help them should they get sued because they can demonstrate that I did X, Y, Z; I did all the things in my power to keep people safe.”
Businesses that do open their doors should follow WEDC guidelines and the Wisconsin Restaurant Association Promise document.
