A hedgehog at Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary in Green Bay went on a wild ride recently.
Lori Bankson, Curator of Animals, tells WTMJ that Clover the Hedgehog was taken from her home unexpectedly.
“When staff came in on Saturday morning, February 22nd, they noticed that her cage was a little askew. And then unfortunately came to find out that sometime on Friday, February 21st, she was unfortunately taken from her enclosure.”
But this story luckily has a good ending. Clover was returned to Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary last Friday, February 28.
“Somebody just came, gave her to a staff member in our gift shop, and walked away,” says Bankson. “That went along with our policy of no questions asked, we just wanted her to be returned.”
Bankson says Clover was scared and frightened, but overall in good health.
“It was a pretty unusual week, something we hope we never have to live through again. We are just grateful to the entire state for putting out the word and looking for her. And we’re happy to be able to cuddle with her once again.”
