It’s a primetime match-up this Sunday as the Packers take on the San Francisco 49ers.
“This is what you do it for,” says Packers head coach Matt LaFleur. “Situations and moments like these.”
For the first-year head coach, this game carries even more weight.Â
That’s because of all of his connections to the team, including head coach Kyle Shanahan…
“It started in 2008 with the Houston Texans. I worked with him for eight seasons. So I’ve learned a lot from him. He’s helped shape who I am as a coach and many of my philosophies.”
….defensive coordinator Robert Saleh….
“Back in our days at Central Michigan University, we roomed together for a year. He is actually the guy that introduced me to Kyle and got me into this league. So I owe him a lot, but certainly not gonna hold anything back this weekend.”
…and, of course, passing game coordinator Mike LaFleur.
“Yeah, I’ve heard of him before,” LaFleur joked.
This weekend’s game has shifted their relationship a bit.
“There’s not a lot of talking going on,” said LaFleur.
As for mom and dad LaFleur…
“If they’re smart, they’re rooting for the Packers,” joked the head coach.
