It’s a safe bet there’ll be big crowds at Dealey Plaza in downtown Dallas this weekend, as the nation marks the 56th anniversary of President Kennedy’s assassination there.
The building from which the shots were fired is now a museum that’ll be hosting a weekend-long event to mark the occasion.
But tourists show up in large numbers year-round there, as well as at other locations around the globe that are home to history-altering tragedies.
It’s called ‘dark tourism.’ The idea that sites of atrocities, accidents and natural disasters draw interest from visitors.
