Did Barron, Wisconsin's pride and joy get crowned the winner of 'The Voice' Tuesday night?
16-year-old Chevel Shepherd beat out Barron's Chris Kroeze who got to live out a dream, performing with the Doobie Bbrothers before the final tally got announced.
Kroeze touted his Barron roots frequently using #SmallTownStrong on his social media posts, thanking his Wisconsin fan base and also bringing up missing teen Jayme Closs who vanished more than two months ago after her parents were found murdered in their home near the northwest Wisconsin community.Â
He told the Minneapolis Star Tribune last month that he hoped his appearance would help raise some spirits back home.Â
Kroeze played bars, fairs and weddings in Wisconsin and Minnesota in recent years before landing a spot on ‘The Voice’ via a blind audition, submitting his version of Stevie Ray Vaughn's classic, 'Pride and Joy.'Â
He says he has an album's worth of new music ready to go before he starts booking on the festival circuit.
