Marquette’s men’s and women’s basketball squads continues to remain steady on its course as America’s top combined basketball program. That, while the Wisconsin Badgers climb back toward their peak ranking for 2018-19 after making a huge climb.
The Marquette men remain No. 10 in the country in the latest AP Top 25 poll. They take that spot after defeating Butler last Wednesday. They’ve been led by Markus Howard, who won Big East player of the week for the 5th time this season.
Wisconsin made the biggest climb in the men’s top 25, five spots to No. 19. That came after wins over Nebraska and Maryland.
The Marquette women rise two spots to No. 8 in the women’s poll after a road win over DePaul Sunday.
Marquette’s men face stiff home challenges this week, with one contest Tuesday against St. John’s, the only Big East Team to defeat them, and another at home Saturday against defending national champion Villanova.
Wisconsin’s men are battling two tough road opponents: A Minnesota team that defeated them earlier this season (rematch Wednesday) and 7th-ranked Michigan (Saturday) which will be revenge minded after Wisconsin knocked them from their undefeated status earlier in the year.
The Marquette women have two home games this weekend: Friday against Georgetown and Sunday against Villanova.
