The Milwaukee Bucks have been the best regular season team in the NBA for the last two seasons.
I’m here to tell you that probably won’t be the case this year…and that’s okay.
The Bucks tip off their quest to win the 2021 NBA Championship tonight with new faces sprinkled throughout their roster.
Jrue Holiday. Bryn Forbes. Torrey Craig. Bobby Portis. DJ Augustin.
This list goes on and on.
Whenever so many new faces come together, it takes time to gel.
Especially when one of those faces plays a position as critical as point guard.
In 2010, when LeBron James and Chris Bosh took their talents to South Beach to team up with Dwyane Wade, the Heat were 9-8 through their first 17 games.
You can’t manufacture chemistry.
It takes hard work and time.
I’m expecting the Bucks to get off to a slow start this year.
Combine that with the improvement of teams like the Brooklyn Nets, who looked incredible in their opener, and the Miami Heat, who are maturing off of their Finals run.
The Bucks reign atop the East in the regular season might be over.
And once again, that’s just fine.
Be patient with them.
Playoff seeding doesn’t matter.
If that was the case, the Bucks would be back-to-back NBA Champions.
The goal isn’t to finish first in April. It’s to finish first in June.
