Josh Hader made Major League Baseball history at Miller Park on Wednesday night.
The Brewers’ reliever has now gone 12 straight appearances without giving up a hit. That’s the longest hitless appearance streak to start a season in history, according to Elias Sports Bureau.
Hader was rumored to be on the trading block ahead Monday’s MLB Trade Deadline. Brewers G.M. and President of Baseball Operations David Stearns held onto his closer, understanding what a luxury it is to have an reliable reliever in playoff chase.
“Josh has had some incredible streaks, and he’s put up incredible numbers. This may be one of the more ridiculous streaks we’ve seen from him,” Stearns told Wisconsin’s Morning News on 620 WTMJ. “To go this long in appearances without giving up a base-hit is remarkable.”
Hader and the Brewers will enjoy an off day on Thursday before embarking on a 5-game road trip that will take them to Cleveland and Detroit.
