Corbin Burnes started the game hot, taking down the Pirates in order in the top of the first to start the game, and he was in control from there. Burnes ended the game going six innings allowing just three hits, giving up no runs and striking out 10 in his deepest start so far this season.
As great as Burnes was pitching, the bats gave him more then enough run support, scoring nine runs, led by home runs from Ryan Bruan, freshly called up Jacob Nottingham, and two from Jedd Gyorko.
The Brewers improved to 14-17 on the season and will take on the Pirates in game two of this four game series tomorrow with first pitch at 6:10 PM. Brett Anderson will look to build off his last start where he went six innings, giving up just two runs in a win against the Reds. Coverage can be heard here on 620 WTMJ starting at 5:35 PM.
