A Milwaukee Brewers pitcher has decided to opt out for the remainder of the team’s coronavirus-shortened 2020 campaign.
The Brewers tweeted that Shelby Miller will take that step for the season.
He joins Gold Glove-winning outfielder Lorenzo Cain among Brewers players who have opted out. Both he and Cain took the step after three games with the St. Louis Cardinals were postponed due to St. Louis team members testing positive for COVID-19.
Miller did not initially share his reasons for ending his season early, but he and his wife had a child back in June, their son Kyler.
Miller was 1-3 with an 8.59 ERA last year for the Texas Rangers.
