An official associated with the Ryder Cup is refuting a report by the Guardian in the United Kingdom that the 2020 event at Whistling Straits in Sheboygan County will be pushed back to 2021.
A spokesman for the event sent this statement to WTMJ’s Greg Matzek:
“The 2020 Ryder Cup remains as scheduled, September 22-27, at Whistling Straits in Kohler, Wisconsin. The PGA of America continues to closely follow the guidance of federal, state, and local public health authorities. The safety and well-being of all is our highest priority.”
This is the second time this year that the Ryder Cup has called such media reports inaccurate. The Telegraph reported in March that the Ryder Cup would be moved to 2021. The same spokesman immediately denied that was the case.
