For the third time in the NFL Draft’s sixth round, the Green Bay Packers are going offensive line with their selection.
After choosing Michigan guard/tackle Jon Runyan and Oregon center Jake Hanson, they’ve added a third lineman with guard Simon Stepaniak from Indiana.
Stepaniak is 6’4″, 313 lbs. and is perceived as a solid run blocker with improvement to make in pass protection, according to NFL.com’s Lance Zierlein.
“Burly and strong with the ability to play either guard position in a gap-scheme attack. He’s productive on double teams and combo blocks,” said Zierlein.
“Despite his bench-press strength, Stepaniak gives too much ground to power rushers who push him into the pocket.”
