The 2020 NFL Draft Show is presented by Professional Construction, Inc., Palermo’s Pizza, White Claw and Wisconsin on Demand.
Listen to the newest Packers quarterback, Jordan Love.
Listen to Packers GM Brian Gutekunst talk about Jordan Love, why he drafted him and what this may mean for Aaron Rodgers.
“A gusty move” as WTMJ and ESPN Milwaukee’s Greg Matzek put it, by Brian Gutekunst in the NFL Draft’s first round. It could also be a defining move for GM Brian Gutekunst, with arguably the greatest pure passer in NFL history on the downturn of his career, but with good years potentially still ahead of him.
Sounds like 2005? Maybe, for new Packers quarterback Jordan Love. Especially to trade up for him. But it could pay off. Only time will tell.

instant scouting report:
Love has had issues with interceptions at Utah State, leading the country in that statistic in 2020.
Only one example I understand but it didn’t take me long to find a weakness of Jordan Love identified in Dane Brugler’s scouting report. “Locking onto to receivers” . Ball should have been delivered to inside WR on top of screen. Instead Love locks in on outside WR. pic.twitter.com/L3zGeEAAsQ

However, he has fantastic passing skills in general, and as Greg Matzek said on the 2020 NFL Draft Show, said “wowed scouts as the NFL Combine.”

“Did he develop bad habits? Yeah, but he’s going to have time to correct that in Green Bay,” said WTMJ Packers radio voice Wayne Larrivee.
As CBS Sports’ Zach Gelb said, put it, Love could end up being “the steal of the draft.”
Bob McGinn, the longtime Packers beat writer, heard a scout who agrees.

The current Packers contract with Aaron Rodgers, as ESPN Wisconsin’s Jason Wilde explained on the 2020 NFL Draft Show, will play into things. He has two years where the Packers will have large cap room to burn if Rodgers leaves. Beyond that, the cap room is not massive.
As Wilde said, for Gutekunst, this is “the kind of move that defines your tenure.”
