We now know that Milwaukee Bucks forward Jabari Parker has a torn ACL – his second such injury.
“We really don’t have a lot of players to go on for a precedent,” Aurora orthopedist Dr. Mark Wichmann tells Wisconsin's Morning News.
“The general school of thought is that the redoes don’t have quite the success rate that the first time procedures do,” he adds. “It’s definitely a tougher surgery from a surgeon’s standpoint with a slightly more unpredictable course. But, he’s such a young guy with such a great work ethic that I wouldn’t be surprised if we see him back on the court.”
He says that attitude and willingness to work could make all the difference.
“That’s just as important as the procedure itself.”
The Bucks have said Parker's rehabilitation will take 12 months.
“He may have to modify his game a little bit when he does return,” says Wichmann.”
