Three close knit brothers from West Milwaukee went off to fight in Vietnam, all in the Army.
Roger, the oldest of the three was a parachute packer. Just two years younger, his brother Conn’s job was to call up replacement troops. Grant, the youngest, was a helicopter pilot.
The three reflected on their eldest brother’s duties.
“It was being a van driver in the city except the city was the jungle and you didn’t know what you were going to be hauling day-to-day. And sometimes guys you went by, shot at you.” Roger stated.
The three brothers are very close and get together “pretty often.”
In November of 2017, the Hagen Brothers were given the opportunity to take a Stars and Stripes Honor Flight together.
“It was so nice to have total strangers say welcome home, thank you for your service.”
