Army ranger Matt Eversmann recently sat down with John Mercure to describe October 3, 1993, when 17 heavily armed Blackhawk helicopters flew into the capital city of Mogadishu, Somalia.
“From the very start of this mission, things went haywire,” Eversmann stated.
Eighteen Americans lost their lives and seventy-three were injured. “Whenever you lose somebody that you love, you never lose that, you never ever forget that,” Eversmann stated.
Eight years later, the movie “Black Hawk Down” came out to depict this day, and in Eversmann’s opinion is “so surreal.”
This movie, as well as the Honor Flight have something in common, according to Eversmann, He states that they both honor service men and women.
