Wisconsin schools will receive more than $83.6 million in funding for challenges related to coronavirus, the Evers Administration announced Wednesday.
The funding includes $46.6 million for K-12 schools and $37 million for higher education.
“Our educators, faculty members, staff, and students have risen to the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, adapting with very little warning, and planning for a new normal,” said Gov. Evers in a statement.
“I’ve always said what’s best for our kids is what’s best for our state, so I am hopeful this funding can help alleviate expenses already incurred and further creative efforts to transition between in-person learning and distance learning.”
The Governor’s Emergency Education Relief Fund, set up under the Federal CARES Act, will provide the $46.6 million for K-12 schools. CARES Act funding will also provide the funding for higher education.
